Job Notification and Responsibilities

 

The City of Bayard is seeking to fill the position of Municipal Deputy Clerk position.  This position is supervised by the City Clerk/Treasurer and approved by the City Council.

 

The Deputy Clerk serves in many different capacities throughout the municipality and performs a variety of administrative duties required to expedite the delivery of services and manage the day-to-day operations of the municipality. 

 

The duties of the Municipal Deputy Clerk include but not limited to the following:

Payroll Processing, Customer service, Secretarial Duties, Secretary for Special Committees, Clerk Treasurer Duties, Supervision of Fin/Admin Staff.

Deputy Clerk for the Bayard City Council, Deputy Clerk of Official Records Custodian, Deputy Clerk of Financial Management, Deputy Clerk of Grant Manager and Deputy of Human Resource Manager.

Qualifications:

 

Preferred Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field and two to three (2-3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.

Working knowledge of fund accounting and finance.

Working knowledge in administering multiple grants and projects.

Must possess excellent reading and writing skills; preferably bilingual.

Must be willing to complete training and obtain Certified Municipal Clerk Certification within three (3) years.

Must be willing to attain Chief Procurement Certification within one (1) year.

Must have good communication skills to work with the public, elected officials, various state/federal/local agencies.

Must have valid New Mexico Driver’s License

Applicants are required to undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol test; physical medical examination and criminal background checks.
